Our Climate Action journey began in 2021 as we started to understand and assess the key risks that Climate Change poses to our business. We have developed our Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy and Climate Action Plan underpinned by four focus areas representing our holistic commitment to climate change.

Operational climate action

We need to reduce the impact of our operations and lending activity on the environment. Putting effort towards our renewable energy targets and working towards becoming Carbon Neutral Certified, will help us do that.

Managing climate risk

We’ve seen the risk that climate change poses to our customers and their communities. To ensure we tackle the issue, we will continue to embed our Climate Change Risk framework to better understand, act and report on the risks.

Supporting our customers

We know our customers, their homes, and their businesses are also facing potential climate change risk. We will continue to adapt and learn from their experiences, and continue to support them during disaster events.

Collaborating with experts

We understand that we are not the experts on climate action, but we are committed to learning from specialists in the space to ensure that P&N Bank can continue to evolve and mature.

BCCM Climate Declaration

Co-operative and mutual enterprises (CMEs) have together through the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals (BCCM) to accelerate action towards tackling climate change. BCCM has created a declaration setting out how CMEs will respond to the net zero transition over the coming years and take advantage of the opportunities for prosperity from a low carbon economy.

P&N Bank is proud to have signed the Co-operatives and Mutual Declaration of Climate Action.
