International money transfers

We’ve made it as easy as possible to send and receive payments worldwide, thanks to our International Payment Service powered by Convera. Whether it’s a transfer to or from a loved one, or something a little less close to your heart, we’re here to help.

We can help you transfer money overseas as quickly and easily as possible. Overseas payments can be made online using internet banking or the mobile app, or in any of our branches.

To transfer money to an overseas bank account, you’ll need the following details:

  • The required currency and amount you’d like to send.
  • The receiving business or person's full name, street address (not a PO Box), and bank account number.
  • The receiving bank's name, street address, and bank codes – such as the SWIFT/BIC (Bank Identifier Code), bank sort code, CHIPS, or routing number.
  • The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) for payments to the UK or European Union.

How to make an international transfer online

Before you can make an overseas transfer online, you’ll first need to be registered for internet banking. Once registered, reach out to our team to set your international transfer limit. By default, this limit is set to $0 for your security, but a quick call is all it takes to have it updated.

Now that’s done, you can make an overseas payment in both internet baking and the mobile app. It’s pretty straightforward, too – once logged into internet banking, just click on ‘Transfer/Pay’, or tap ‘Pay’ under the main menu in the mobile app, and follow the prompts.

P&N Bank’s transfer fees:

Transfer method Transfer fee
Telegraphic transfer (sent in a foreign currency) $30.00
Telegraphic transfer (send in Australian dollars) $45.00
Online international transfer made in internet banking or the mobile app $15.00

Whether it’s a one-off payment, or you regularly need to receive money from an overseas bank account into your own, transferring money inwards is easier than ever. And funds can be credited directly into your P&N Bank account.

Firstly, go to the Convera website and complete the online form. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be presented with PDF deposit instructions. Please save these for your reference and email them to whoever is sending you the funds – they’ll need to follow them.

Receive money from overseas form

Ask the sender to:

  • Present these instructions to their bank when organising the payment to you.
  • Deposit the amount as outlined on the instructions in their local currency (not Australian dollars).

The funds will arrive in the sender’s currency and Convera will convert them to Australian dollars before forwarding them to us. We’ll credit the funds to your P&N Bank account as soon as we receive them.

Please note: P&N Bank do not hold their own SWIFT code.

Your overseas payment questions, answered

When you send a telegraphic transfer overseas, the money is usually received within 3 to 5 business days excluding time differences, however some currencies may take longer than others to arrive. Timelines are only approximate and may be held up if Convera requires more information or additional details about the payment.

When you or someone else sends money from overseas to your P&N Bank account you should usually receive the funds within three business days, however this depends on the country the payment is coming from.

The easiest way to send money overseas is to use internet banking or the mobile app. Overseas payments can be made online using the International Payment Service, powered by Convera

International transfer fees

You can receive money from overseas directly to your P&N Bank account using our International Payments Service, powered by Convera. This is called an inward transfer - an electronic transfer of funds directly credited to your account from an overseas sender. The funds arrive in the sender's own currency, and Convera converts them into Australian dollars before forwarding to us for crediting to your account.

There is no charge to you the recipient for an inward transfer.

There is a charge to cover the cost of processing SWIFT payments from overseas, and same day local payments through RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) systems.

Please see our fees and charges information for details.

A SWIFT code or BIC (Bank Identifier Code) is the unique identification code used to identify a specific bank or financial institution for international transfers. It is a standard format code which is made up of eight or 11 letters and/or numbers.

We don't have our own SWIFT or BIC code for inwards payments, as we partner with Convera.
