A local not-for-profit group that empowers women to obtain economic independence has become the 150th unique community organisation to receive a Helping &nds grant from P&N Bank since 2016.
Dress for Success Perth is part of a global movement to help women find gainful employment that will use the funds to provide more women with work-appropriate clothing, mentoring and career development workshops.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, more WA women than ever are now unemployed or underemployed and the need for these services is expected to be greater than ever.
Dress for Success Perth General Manager Kelli Carnachan said the P&N Bank Helping &nds grant will allow the organisation to offer even more Western Australian women access to their suiting and styling services.
“Our services provide clients with a minimum of two interview outfits as well as career support tools, including workshops on a range of topics such as resume development and interview techniques. We also offer tailored one-to-one career mentoring,” Kelli said.
P&N Bank General Manager Anna Pearce said the Helping &nds program was all about giving financial assistance where it is needed most within the community.
“It’s so heartwarming to know that our customers have nominated and voted to support over 150 community groups with a Helping &nds grant since the program’s inception,” Anna said.
“Helping &nds recognises and supports the incredible work that not-for-profit organisations, such as Dress for Success, are doing to make a positive difference to the lives of West Aussies in need.
“Every quarter, we’re both encouraged and delighted to see the variety of worthy groups nominated by our customers, with our belief in the power of the collective ably demonstrated by the work these groups do for the community.”
P&N Bank customers can nominate local community organisations for a Helping &nds grant at any time during the year – they then have their say on which groups are supported by casting a vote for one group in each funding round.
Amongst the many causes that Helping &nds has provided funds for are disease and illness support, animal rescue, children’s charities, homelessness support, community outreach, volunteer bush fire brigades and domestic violence assistance.
