When it comes to financing your property investment or development, we know it’s not a one-size-fits all solution. That’s why our expert team of relationship managers take the time to get to know your business.

Relationship Manager John Salter, from our Business Banking team, understands what it takes to make the right investment. With more than 30 years of experience in financial services, property, and construction, John is dedicated to helping bring his clients' projects or financing proposals to life.

What advantages does P&N Business Banking offer over larger banks?

With a shared 120+ years of knowledge across the team, there’s no question our Business Banking team draws from a wealth of experience, but for John, the icing on the cake is good old-fashioned customer service.

“We see a lot of dissatisfied customers move over from bigger banks after finding it very hard to get tailored service from their former bank,” John said.

“We’re similar in a lot of ways to the smaller firms that many of us started out in – a tight-knit team, focused on building long-term relationships through personalised service.

“Only this time we have the capabilities of WA’s largest locally-based, customer-owned bank, which means we can go the extra mile for our clients.”

The team’s approach to business banking stems from a shared appreciation for genuine personalised service often found wanted at larger banks.

What are some opportunities and challenges you are seeing in market?

With their ear to the ground, John and the team get to see first-hand what pressures businesses are facing, and what opportunities customers can take advantage of.

“The WA property market is currently strong and is forecast to remain so for the near future, despite ongoing issues around labour and material supply costs,” he said.

“The changing dynamics across retail, office, and any discretionary spending markets are no surprise in a post pandemic world, with increased inflation influencing work-life habits.

“We are also seeing more demand for non-big-bank options for smaller suburban infill developments and land subdivisions. We’re building a market presence to deliver agile and competitive financing solutions, often much quicker than the big banks.”

By working closely with our customers, the team combine their extensive market knowledge with your business goals to provide tailored and flexible financing options.

Why’s it important to have a positive ongoing relationship with your bank?

Just like Rome, your business probably wasn’t built in a day. That’s why it’s important for our Business Banking team to have a close working relationship with customers.

“Trust is built over time, so that we can rely on the longer-term mutual opportunities without having to compete solely on things like price, for example,” John said.

“Two-way communication and understanding of each other’s requirements, concerns and any potential issues is key.

“For our customers, this delivers vastly better outcomes, empowering them to take advantage of opportunities, and help their business grow.”

It pays to have confidence in your business banking team.
