P&N Bank, Western Australia’s customer-owned bank, is proud to again partner with the Perth Wildcats to offer 100 First Nations youth the opportunity to watch their heroes in action at the NBL’s 2024 Indigenous round game on Thursday 7 November.

Tickets to the game were donated by P&N to Binar Futures and the Stephen Michael Foundation, with Indigenous Perth Wildcats player Keanu Pinder presenting budding young basketball players from Binar in Midland with their tickets at a special event on Tuesday.

P&N will also provide the unique opportunity for ten young female representatives from Binar to showcase their skills in a basketball game on the RAC Arena court during the half-time break of the Wildcats match.

Binar began in 2011 as a local basketball team of six Indigenous youth and has since grown to have over 1,800 young people (78% Aboriginal) involved in the Perth metro area and surrounds. Binar’s programs include sports, culture, youth leadership and youth development.

Binar Chair, four-time Olympian and former Perth Wildcats captain Andrew Vlahov, said the organisation was very appreciative of the opportunity to get their young people involved in the NBL Indigenous Round game.

Andrew Vlahov said “Binar exists to provide positive pathways and opportunities for our young players.”

“Thanks to the generous donation of P&N and the help of the Perth Wildcats - some of our kids will be able to experience basketball at the highest level. It may even illuminate a special pathway for some."

P&N Bank’s Executive General Manager Retail Banking, Angela Newland said P&N were thrilled to be able to provide an opportunity for 100 young people from two First Nations community organisations to watch their heroes live in action.

“We believe in an inclusive community and supporting those striving for equity. Through our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan launched earlier this year, we are committed to gaining a deeper understanding of how we can support First Nations communities,” Ms Newland said.

“As a proudly WA based organisation, P&N Bank truly values our successful partnership with the Perth Wildcats, a highly supported and well-regarded organisation in WA and beyond.

“P&N Bank’s focus on our 127,000 customers and supporting an inclusive community strongly aligns with the values of the Perth Wildcats and the important role they play in the Western Australian community.

“As advocates for reconciliation, we are extremely proud to again be supporting the Wildcats during the NBL’s Indigenous round game.”

The NBL Indigenous round is a highlight each season, showcasing Indigenous art and culture from around the country.
